The director of “Sia, the Dream of the Python” brings us a poetic documentary about Thérèse Berris Parise. Born in 1920 in Gosier Gadeloupe, Thérèse Bernis Parise is French but Black, free by descending from slaves, Christian but involved in syncretism. With six children from six different men, she fought all her life to overcome poverty. She discovered Paris, became a housemaid, and now at 88, she sings and tells her life story, her trust and despair, bitterness and indulgence, sadness and passion for life.
